Well I might have looked for better video recording myself, if I didn't have a video camera already, and THAT one has some utterly sick zoom: 40x optical zoom!!!!

As it stood though, I just wanted something primarily for pictures...

For me these days it's all about convergence. One device to rule them all.

It's no good having all that power if it's left home on a shelf when you need it.

Right now, lugging around three devices (laptop, blackberry and camera) is still too much, let alone add a dedicated video camera to that list.

Can't wait for the next blackberry to come out with 12X optical zoom and an integrated 8800 GT vid card. Then I'm set! lol

Well I prefer discrete devices, which can do their respective jobs excellently...

Plus some people in here have seen my video camera, and they can attest as to the stalk...distance recording possibilities that can be done with it.

LOL @ stalking possibilities. I could imagine the content recorded on that camera. Yea I tend to agree with Noob concerning one device to rule them all, but as we all know, such a device only does its jobS adequately but to complete specialized task the discreet device is the way to go.

That said, I like to have both, one to rule them all that you take everywhere, AND a discreet solution that's available when needed.
