lol, I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium to replace my RC. Works like a charm. Fact, works even better than the RC.

Nothing beats the feeling of a squeaky clean OS. Didn't format the partition mind you, so all my old data is still there.

Surprisingly, steam worked without a hitch. No need to even re-install or re-download the games or anything. Very impressive.

i'm seriously surprised that the update wasn't made mandatory to begin with. who's at MS thought making

the consumer choose if to download the update or not was a good idea? not that i'm complaining or anything. :ko:

Awesome, I don't follow how an Enterprise key would work.

Is it going to activate an unlimited number of times? Or is it good for say 20 activations?

How does one go about getting an Enterprise key? (serious question)

*edit* ok, so I found this very detailed article on enterprise activation.

Interesting stuff

Our Ministry obtained an Enterprise key that activates both x86 and x64 versions of enterprise under the Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft (not related to the version of the OS). If im not mistaken, its good for somewhere in the vicinity of 1000 machines.

Enterprise licenses are available only for organizations though. No way an individual can obtain one.

Well microsoft's office is literally next door to our head office. lol

Might have to ask someone to sneak over and eyeball an enterprise key for the boys.

...but don't you need a VLK server to properly activate that Enterprise version?

I tried doing one over the innanetz, but was unsuccessful.

Remember there are two types of volume licensing keys. You probably used a KMS key which REQUIRES a KMS infrastructure server on your network which validates the keys.

On the other hand, you have the MAK or multiple activation key that can be used to activate the product over the net using MS's servers for verification...which is what we have. We have both actually.

yeah Arc, if you read the link I posted, it explains all of that in great great detail. Even included Enterprise keys for various versions..as well as the difference with MAK.

I'm with Neph. Windows 7 is very reasonably priced for what it does. Bought several copies already and will continue to do so.

The Home Premium working good and doing everything I need and more. Costs like US$110.00 (before shipping and handling). That's like the cost of two games and I'm gonna be "playing" Windows 7 for a helluva lot longer than I play any one game. lol

I was looking to see how many times each MAK can be activated, cuz we don't have that many MAK's (and like only 10 for Ultimate)

The amount of times the MAK can be activated will depend solely on the number of activations that were purchased. I imagine that the entity making hte purchase will be able to choose the amount they want.

Actually, you can't choose the amount of MAK's you get... I also found that annoying. 10 Ultimate MAK's are too little IMO
