bad news for non file planet subscribers though.. no beta for awhile , and there are a limited amount of keys so make sure to keep checking back to try and get on..

Beta is available at www.fileplanet.com .

Hopefully even if we don't get through with the beta, there will be a multiplayer demo soon after.

Update: The Quake Wars Beta Signups are Over

The Enemy Territory: Quake Wars beta signups have ended. The dust is settling here at FilePlanet, but on the servers, the battles are raging non-stop. FilePlanet subscribers and registered users who got into the beta can give feedback to the developers through the private beta forums. So if you got in, let the crew know what you think!

If you didn't make it into the beta, keep in mind that FilePlanet Subscribers always get the first crack at these things. Stick around, because we've got more huge games in the queue for the rest of the Summer.

Played it for awhile..  Enjoyable once you start to get into it , plays like a very fast paced , concentrated battlefield ,  fairly large maps but the gameplay makes sure death or killing isn't far away from your spawn point..

Combat is like WET or quake 4.. very fast paced , slightly realistic with recoil etc. , enjoyable if you like that sort of thing .

only one map in the beta that isn't vehicle centric , vehicles themselves much simpler and weaker than in Battlefield... 2 men with shotguns can take down the lighter ones .  STill just scratched the surface of the game , will report back later on a better verdict

Quake Wars Beta 2 are out , better graphics and a new map .

Gameplay has improved..  even faster paced now , one round can finish in 10 minutes .  Basically an faster paced , polished battlefield , you are never far from the frontline .

Plus rather than identical sides , the aliens  vs humans scenario gives a nice change . Aliens get high technology like jetpacks , Railgun sniper rifle etc.

Humans have more ordinary , but reliable technology . Their advantage is in the medics , alien medics take awhile to revive their fallen soldiers , human medics can revive allies with one shock.

Game is fairly balanced but each side is unique enough for gamers of different playing sides to find what they like..

Quake Wars specs revealed

Play on a 9800 - yes, the old one

By Wily Ferret: Friday 07 September 2007, 12:13
THE MINIMUM SPECS for upcoming massive-scale shooter Quake Wars have been revealed - and there's good news for those not quite sporting enough hardware to make Crysis a realistic option for the next six months.

Splash Damage has managed to keep the hardware requirements to a minimum, despite the upgrades to the Doom 3 engine, which include John Carmack's famed megatexturing algorithms. The demo, released on Monday, requires a mere GeForce FX 5700-class card, with the ATI-heydey card Radeon 9700 the minimum from the red team.

On the processor side, a Pentium 4 2.8GHz, or Athlon XP 2800+ is the name of the day - although up those figures by another 200MHz if you're running on Windows Vista. Vista owners lose out again when it comes to RAM requirements - 512MB for XP, 768MB for Vista. So much for Vista being the ultimate gaming platform.

The demo contains just one map, called Valley, set in a Strogg-strewn Yosemite. This has been balanced and tweaked since the beta earlier this year. It's out on Monday - so watch out for numerous benchmark comparisons from the usual gaggle of hardware fanbois on Tuesday.

Whilst it's easy to write off PC games development, it surely isn't an easy job to manage to write code that scales to 8800 Ultra SLI down to FX 5700. More to the point, isn't it a little sad that the Radeon 9700 is still everyone's favourite ATI card to date? µ

I just finished a 2-hour long sweat with the online demo.  Aside from a few glitches here and there, it BOSSSSSSSS!!!!

Lots of fun was had with the character types.  I especially like how you can press 'M' to cycle through
mission objectives for each character class.  The weapon variety for each class is also a plus.
The map is HUGE, but the plethora of vehicles and spawn points dont keep you away from the action too long.

This demo get the official Arcman 'BAWWWWWWWWW' stamp of approval.

PC gamers...GET DIS S#!T!!!

The bots are surprisingly capable. Provides some nice firefights and intense situations. Can't help feeling that it's BF2 with Strogg though, but it still manages to feel unique overall.

Heh, looks like gamespot feels the same way. 8.5, and similar comments...
