I had to order it though, and they got it in less than 2 weeks..

Rock Band Instruments Priced, Dated
« Reply #3 on: January 25, 2008, 11:52:54 AM »
January 24, 2008 - Standalone Rock Band instruments will start shipping to stores in the United States next month, Harmonix, MTV and Electronic Arts announced today.

The Rock Band drum set will ship first, on Feb. 12, and will retail for $79.99. The wireless Fender Stratocaster guitar will begin shipping April 1 and will retail for $59.99. The announcement did not mention pricing or shipping information for a standalone Rock Band-branded USB microphone.

The PlayStation guitar will work with both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2, the announcement said, and $59.99 price tag is listed as being the same for both the PlayStation 2/3 and Xbox 360 guitars.

The standalone Rock Band software is currently available in stores, as is the game's special edition bundle, which includes a guitar, drum set, drum sticks, mic and game. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 system bundles also come with a USB hub.

^guitar or drums?

I actually found myself drumming 94% Expert on Enter Sandman...
Was wicked...Ain't repeated that feat since :(

I also gold starred Say it Ain't So today...first gold stars ever for me!
i.e. when you got 5 stars in a song...and get a certain amount of points... with 99-100% accuracy..

For Say it ain't so it was 100,000 points + to get gold stars...

i got 103,***
#3** highest score in world :D

I feel proud...

I have to try out this game, I can probably do the guitar work by now, gauging from my progress in GH3...

I ent even go bother trying to sing, unless it's a song I can do.

Well I'm still not that good, but learning over time...

That Dragonforce song is real therapy on just Medium difficulty, but so far I'm largely making 4/5 star ratings on Medium, and that's on spurts of playing, not my usual training methods as I would use if I want to learn a game properly.

hmmm...k cool...
I understand...

Well how long you have GH3 now?

>>>
I'm debating getting it...
But then I figure I should just save the money and buy a 2nd guitar for rock band...
For Guitar/Bass play...
Guitar Battles with my family etc....

(Activision/EA haven't worked out an agreement to allow both controllers to work with both games :( )

I've had the game since about early November, when the PC version had shipped in the US, got it about 4 days later, but it was not played much for a while after I got it, due to preparing for end of semester exams....and only really picked it up with any regularity by late January.

The game really is good if you like the guitar work, I want to get a 2nd guitar for both co-op and Guitar Battles...but I can't put out that kinda money just yet :( .

Looking at the list of songs, I think GH3 has the better variety...playing Black Magic Woman just feels like you missing a certain herb to complete the experience... :D

ROCK BAND™ TO FEATURE FREE DOWNLOAD OF "STILL ALIVE" FROM VALVE'S PORTAL™

This is a triumph ... Harmonix Music Systems and MTV Games have teamed up with Valve to bring the song "Still Alive", released as part of The Orange Box collection of games on PC, 360 and Playstation 3, into the Rock Band library. And, as icing on the cake, the track will be available as a FREE download on April 1 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and April 17 for the PLAYSTATIONŽ3 computer entertainment system.

Written by Jonathan Coulton and originally performed over the end credits of Portal, the experimental single-player game in The Orange Box, "Still Alive" found its way into the heads and hearts of gamers and quickly became a cult classic.

"While the cake may be a lie, the free download of "Still Alive" is confirmed truth," said Greg LoPiccolo, VP of product development at Harmonix. "'Still Alive' is an awesome song that brings together great gaming and great music. We've teamed up with Valve to deliver a free download of "Still Alive" as a "thank you" to our fans for their incredible support."

"Rock Band has lit the industry on fire by opening a new market for cooperative musical gaming," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "We're delighted Harmonix has selected the track for inclusion in the growing library of tracks available for this phenomenal title."

With the addition of "Still Alive" to the Rock Band library, there are now more than 70 tracks available for download in addition to the 58 tracks in the original game. To date, gamers have purchased more than 6 million downloadable songs for Rock Band since its launch on November 20, 2007.

Downloadable content for the Xbox 360 will be available via Xbox LIVEŽ Marketplace using Microsoft Points and is downloaded directly to the Xbox 360 hard drive. Downloadable content for the PLAYSTATION 3 system's version of Rock Band will be available on the PLAYSTATIONŽStore through the free PLAYSTATIONŽNetwork and is downloaded directly to PLAYSTATION 3 system's built in hard drive.

Rock Band is rated "T" for Teen (lyrics, mild suggestive themes) by the ESRB.
