maybe one of the e2180 intels
the 3850 is a good buy now, but in the future you'll want at least 512m gpu memory, like in 6 months or so.that just the way it is.
Hmm seems I got here late, but yuh never know here is my 2c:Go with the AMD X2 5000+ BLACK Ed. Its 129USD on newegg and it's an unlocked 65nm processor that will EASILY get up to 3GHz on good AIR cooling.I WOULD say go 790FX but that will be costly and also I would say go 8800GT over the 3870 since they are kinda competing on price due to limited availabilty of both (thats vendor gouging for yah). I know not of that brand of PSU and well the mobo is neither here nor there imho (meaning your choice is fine with ur budget). You can get some really decent DDR2800 or 1066 1GBx2 kits for JUST over 100USD. If you want some more advice before you take the leap let me know.
The Ultra PSUs are quite good. Don't let other people's (lack of?) knowledge chain you up...I've been Using an Ultra XvS 700 Watt modular PSU for close to a year now with absolutely no issues. The X2 5000 Black Edition is 'unlocked', meaning you can OC it by raising the CPU multiplier setting in themotherboard's BIOS, while leaving the front-side-bus (FSB) frequency untouched. This is a much better and safer way of OC'ing,as the rise in heat is not as significant as OC'ing with the FSB. You can also OC a lot before having to change your CPU core voltage(which also contributes to more heat dissipation). If your goal is never to OC, then get the 6000.Personally, I think a low end Asus, Gigabyte, Abit, or MSI motherboard would be better than that Biostar. The overall build quality of those manufacturer's products are significantly better. For example check this Asus M2N-E SLI. Great price, superior build, and plenty features.
