SLI vs. Crossfire

This is interesting:

Final thoughts
From the test result we can notice in more than 90% items, Crossfire scale more better than SLI. In 60% test items CrossFire scale up more than 50% performance compare to single card. But in only 40% items SLI can scale up to 50%.

More surprisingly, in 30% items there’s more than 80% scale in Crossfire. But we can hardly find a 70% scale in SLI solutions. In one word to sum this up: ATi’s Crossfire is more efficiency than SLI.

It is known that HD 3870 is not powerful compare to 8800GT. and because 3870 and 8800GT are at the same price, so a single 3870 have no advantage compare to 8800GT. But Crossfire, this funtion somehow add more value to the product. Also there are lot’s of middle and high end mobo (P965, P35, X38… and AMD’s own mobo) supports Crossfire, But only NV’s chipset supports SLI so in multicard solution AMD already got enough firepower to fight with NV.

Honestly the AMD platform is still VERY attractive esp as the top end intel rigs are RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Get yourself say a Black Ed 5000+ (for like 130USD) an AM2+ 790FX mobo (that'll be the most costly part) ~ 240USD and 2xHD3870 @ 270USD each. And such a rig would prolly pwn all on GATT in the least. Ppl will argue they can overclock the Intel platform, but consider that you'll  need to speed BIG TIME for a FORWARD looking intel rig aka X38 wih DDR3 (which is expensive) the Intel rig even a 'mid-range' FORWARD looking intel rig is at LEAST 2x the price for <2x performance increase (at default) to factor in OCing MAY justify the price but I doubt it.
