I recently bought a Sony Ericsson k550i in England and it worked great but recently the "applications" and "games" folders stopped working. I am also getting a problem staying on Bmobiles network. I did some research online and i found out i have to flash the phone. I know this will definately fix the first problem but i am also hoping it fixes the second problem as well.

I have all the software I need to do it but finding the firmware to download seems to be a much more difficult task than I first imagined.

If anyone can assist me in the right direction towards finding downloadable firmwares I would greatly appreciate it. I know it voids my warranty but i'm not planning on sending the phone back to England any time soon.

P.S. If you think there is any other way to solve my problems without flashing the phone I am willing to hear. Thanks in advance and I'll be eagerly awaiting responses.

chek there....its a tutorial for flashing k550 to W610.....it should hav a link for the firmware sumwhere there....

remember flashing a fone without proper firmware may result in bricking or locking of the device....use the link at ure own...bleh

BTW SE website doh hav firmware updates?

I checked the Ericsson site and it was less than helpful. I've been to a lot of sites with tutorials following your same logic but they usually want you to pay for the firmware.

i had a K550i, in fact, i had 2!! both were experiencing serious problems.
the first had randome dead keys, the second had a appetite for battery life of 48hours (that's without using, less if the phone was used to make calls).

i ended up trading it and payin difference for the W810i, which i'm very happy with. i think those phones are too new for them to be sorted properly.

one thing, be very careful updating the F/W.

Sorry I forgot to reply but all went well with th flashing. 5 minutes after my last post i was done and my K550I was transformed into a W610. I even have new customized menu icons and stuff. it was a lot easier than i thought too.

The only problem i have still is the network issue. I don't know what caused it and flashing didn't help solve the problem. When I'm in the heart of POS though it works fine mostly but if I go into a building or venture outside of town then I get "no network coverage" again.

TSTT has suggested in their infinite mobile wisdom that I send the phone back to the manufacturer but i am not too keen on sending the phone all the way back to England if it's something I can fix here. If anyone can help please do.
