Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles
« on: November 14, 2007, 12:46:32 AM »
Wow there's gonna be Terminator TV series titled 'Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles'.

It's set right after the events of the 2nd movie and follows Sarah and John as they try to destroy Skynet.

With some good writing this could be good...imo

If by that you mean keep the story confined to the future that we only get glimpses of in T1 and T2 then hell yeah.
The franchise could go in a whole new direction.

A band of human warriors, living in a war-ravaged future, hunted almost to exctinction by a fully self-aware, sentient, murderous AI.
The valiant human resistance, led by John Connor, humanity's last hope......

Sounds like a great premise for a great Sci-Fi movie/series, if written right of course.  Look what was done with Stargate.

I watched the pilot of this show officially called Terminator, Cronicles of Sarah Conor. It was bess, in the true style of Terminator. Plenty action, promises to be a good show.

Finally got around to watching the premiere episode.  Good job.  They maintained the terminator 'standard'.
Lots of action.  The terminator chick have a kinda big forehead, but no biggie.  Plot picks up about 2 years after T2.

Oh yeah, and big ups to John Connor, who had the foresight to send an 'engineer' back in time to build a terminator-killing,
nuclear-isotope-powered, hyper-phase-antimatter-distortion-pulse-emitter rifle, and hide it, along with a TIME MACHINE, in
a bank vault.

*Note to self: next payday, remember to place order for 1 x terminator-killing, nuclear-isotope-powered, hyper-phase-antimatter-distortion-pulse-emitter rifle  :happy0203:

Oh yeah the pilot ep was real good. Was real awkward when they used the time machine and landed where they did, lol. Gonna watch ep2 now.

Yes, River is the reason why I loved Serenity even though I didn't know what the hell was going on.

Serenity was a damn awesome movie
Firefly was a damn awesome series (pity it got cancelled)
(I'm a sucker for scifi, so my opinion is strongly biased)

Admittedly, wasn't a fan of their "country western" style of speak in Firefly, but was willing to overlook that for the soft scifi goodness at the core.

River totally wtfpwned in the movie. She was getting on my nerves in the series but DAMN did she ever bring the house down in Serenity.

You guys have me running to the internet pel mel to get Terminator now. Didn't even take it on at first, but such glowing reviews has definitely gotten my attention.

They had a rerun of the first ep on FOX this week so I watched it. I thought it was pretty good.
Only thing that bugged me is that I done seein' the angle they goin for with that girl, she already starting to show some hints of emotion which really isn't becoming of a Terminator.
While I suppose it'd be kinda weird having this petite girl being stone cold as opposed to big strapping Arnold, it really seemed kinda off.

Yeah a lot of people think the idea of a hot girl playing Terminator is a bit naff (I suspect most of them are T3 haters, lol)...as for showing hints of emotion I guess you could compare her to Arnold in T2 (remember he asked John 'Why do you cry?")...he was trying to understand human emotion throughout the movie (he finally got it in the end) and also somewhat act human through what John taught him (how to smile and act normal, killing is wrong...etc)...sooo maybe in this series we can just assume that john in the future taught River a thing or two before sending her back in time

I think the problem I'm having is that we ALL know where this is going, or at least where this looks like it's going. A human-terminator romance. And I'm throwing up in my mouth thinking about the prospect and the mighty Terminator being brought down by this "we must have a romance" thinking in writing.

Well, from what I have seen (and I saw all the episodes so far, including the one that just finished) that is not where the show seems to be headed at all. The first episode was the only one that had any hint of romance in it and that was before John found out that Cameron was a Terminator. All the episodes have serious action and as the show is named "The Sarah Connor Chronicles", there is a strong focus on Sarah and her (sometimes strained) relationship with John. I really enjoy the show but I would very strongly suggest to FOX that they make plans to move it to another time slot when Heroes comes back on the air.
