The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.

Demonoid forcedly shut down by CRIA

Posted on 09.11.2007 at 15:26 in Tech News by Martin

It has been no longer than 6 weeks since our latest report about Demonoid, which scared thousands of its users. The site was taken offline by Canadian Recording

Industry Association (CRIA) that time, although many people thought it has been just technical issues with Demonoid’s servers. As a result of this closure, this popular

tracker had to block access to all Canadians - they were simply getting timeout messages in their attempts to contact the server.

Now, when everything looked safe and sound, the site is offline once again. CRIA sent a threatening letter to Demonoid’s hosting provider (Netelligent.ca), which resulted

into shutting down the whole site. Demonoid’s tracker still works and ironically wasn’t affected by this latest issue, although it’s the essential part in the process of

downloading content through BitTorrent. According to the official IRC channel of this popular site, Demonoid administrator is already working on returning everything back

to normal. I wouldn’t wonder if they decided to move their servers to different country and hosting company though, the pressure on p2p applications in Canada is

increasing every week…

Got it from one of my fav resources

They pulled through last time by shifting servers and blocking the Canadians, can't they just get their servers to a top secret location?

why you blank out your documents and settings field
its contains my user name, contrary to popular belief, just having a secure pw is not enough, as any admin would tell you even user names have to be secured. once a malicious user has a user name, clever social engineering is more than enough to figure out a lusers pw.

lol cause of people like me that sniffing his ip for open ports :P
there are few, one is obvious though :P (hint - i using the internets aren't i?)

however a more important question would be...

what would be the real goal in hacking me?
aside from causing me undue strife :P

and how yuh so sure is paradyne? i could have change the address on oh lets say my new dlink to mimic the default address of a paradyne to throw yuh off. OR, because my entire internal network based on that so i just used that to make life easier :D

anyhow major thread jack...back to demonid woes...chups i was tuh get <0d h to eh (if yuh figure that out yuh boss)
