utorrent web access help
« on: October 26, 2007, 05:15:58 PM »
woi

well I've recently switched from my long time fav azureus to utorrent

was dabbling with the web interface and got it to work easy enough, here's the problem, no web access.

heres whats been done so far:

N.B.
external_ip - IP assigned by T$TT.
internal_ip - IP on my internal network.
myurl - the hostname I'm using.
port - the port (duh)

1. registered a hostname with http://dyndns.com/ (used this because the paradyne has the option built in to update the IP).
2. assigned the hostname to - external_ip:port
3. went into the paradyne -> NAT -> Virtual Servers and mapped the external_ip:port to internal_ip:port
4. Then to test it Firefox -> myURL, then nada  :crybaby2:

In case your wondering i would like to control downloads remotely on a machine and I'm testing this as one possible method.

a f-load of googling turning up alot of info but none really helping, save me going out by ye grand ole PC parts place and buying me a new router, i could really use some help with this one guys.

If this thing work i in business, i could download on the move, find out what finish before i reach home, set new stuff to download so i don't waste that precious bandwidth.

any suggestions (come nah man yuh know ah mean usefull ones :P) are welcome

if you need more info let 'I' know.

P.S. a quick port scan indicates only 3 ports open. none are the port I'm using for utorrent to accept remote connections.

also in the firewall option of the paradyne, when i try to open the port it says "At least one configured bridge interface must be selected" - :S yeah, i loss after that...

Forward the ports? To do that go in NAT settings, not Firewall settings.

did that :)
but the port i have to fwd is closed, went into firewall in an attempt to open it, told me "At least one configured bridge..." thing, doing more research now...

you won't be able to access it from the dyndns address locally , try using you private ip, you also have to put the address:port/gui/ wont work without it.

Oh sorry dude didn't read that part, lol.

Did you have uTorrent running when you scanned/tested the port? If not, try again with uTorrent running.

yeah man all that

just figured out what all the "At least one configured bridge interface must be selected" BS is

apparently you can only modify that when the router firewall on, i go it to create the IP filter. (allowing the port that i using for utorrent web ui)

prob is port scan now showing nothing, not a port open, my net still running normal, hell even utorrent still downloading :)

btw...

ALL YOU GUYS ON TSTT ADSL CHANGE THE DEFAULT PASSWORDS PLEASE!!!

Damn noobs out there leaving they passwords on default, i drop in an IP i scan outta boredom and low and behold i get ah man adsl config, what if i was a malicious user now? (i know it wasn't mine cus i dont use the default )

Double post for a reason.

you won't be able to access it from the dyndns address locally , try using you private ip, you also have to put the address:port/gui/ wont work without it.

yeah i was reading that, trying to access a internal IP from a redirected public address wont work if you on said internal network, example:

Lets say I'm on an internal network of 10.0.0.x IPs (for simplicity sake).
I have a server set up @ 10.0.0.10, and I set up a redirect from a host name, lets say, wasd.org, to the server.
If I try to access wasd.org from within the network (lets say from 10.0.0.5) I wont be able to access it.

I had to change an IP on my network to access it and test it out, also got a few buddies to test it for me.

If anyone's interested in the details let me know.
I will be recreating it to test out, may take some time, in experimenting I may have enabled a few unneeded things.

btw it works :D
