Heavenly Sword
« on: October 02, 2007, 03:52:48 AM »

Well guys...I just a while ago finished my first play of Heavenly Sword...
Lets just say I wish it hadn't ended... :(

Amazing title...One of the best I;ve played..
A dramatic game...Best "acting" in a game I've ever seen...
The story is A Class, true Hollywood Movie potential..

Reviews say 8/10?
I'd give it upwards of 9... Something aroung 9.5-10, just because it was a bit short...
But short isn't that bad..as I've already started replaying levels to unlock all the content in the game...

Also *Minor Spoiler*

You unlock "Hell" Mode at the end of the game...so I'll be for sure playing that..

Graphics-wise...I mean..you're running up a huge stair case with massive waterfalls on both sides of you...
The graphics are simply beautiful...some of the best I've seen...
And seeing thousands...literally THOUSANDS of characters in game, all with their own A.I. and blasting them with a cannon or slaughtering them with a sword..

and naturally the game hiccups a very little with the frame rate (didn't hiccup at all during those thousand+ enemy sequences....)..but never had it affected gameplay...
So frame rate issue..not a problem at all...

Guys...go get this game...Its an epic adventure...
I consider this game a movie I've played through...not just a game..something more...
A real Dramatic Art-Form...

And as for continuation of the game..the developers did mention that they may have Downloadable Content coming...
So I'm happily looking forward to that...

*SPOILER ALERT*

I'm just really sad how it ended.... :(
I need a sequel to this game...how the developers will do that..I've no idea...
sigh...I've fallen in love with those lead characters...

8 pshht are they on crack the game is a 9 at least, I got my copy yesterday and i had to force myself to put it down (got to go to work) but the game makes use of Ps3.
At first you feel as if you really playing god of war but the storyline and whole voice acting makes you forget all that, but on a side note now we know how GoW 3 will look :D

at no time did this feel like GoW. The entire physics engine of the game is wayyyyy different as well as fight mechanics.

I heard the game is all of 6 hrs long... when you pay 60USD for a game and its 6hrs... 10USD per hour... THAT would kill it for me. But that's just what I heard, could someone confirm/deny this for me? also is there any online component to this game?

GOW doesn't fall into the same catergory cause of its online replay value, anyone game designed for online really. But compare the single player experience of say Oblivion, or other popular RPGs, imho you get ur money's worth there, I don't quite see why we can't get more out of a game like this...

Re: !EVERYTHING! PS3
« Reply #11 on: October 13, 2007, 12:18:38 PM »
About a month ago, my brother came over to spend the weekend at my apartment. He had not played with my PS3 before, so he was interested in seeing what it could do. I only had Resistance and he is not really into shooters so he checked out the demos I had downloaded. Of particular interest to him was Heavenly Sword. He sat down with the demo for at least 2 hours just practicing different moves.

Last weekend, he was planning to come over again (with one of his friends) and kept calling me asking if I got the game yet. I finally caved and bought the game on Friday before he arrived. We started playing around 1 am on Saturday morning and the three of us took turns. We took breaks to sleep, eat, etc. but continued playing. Sometime early Sunday morning, we finished the game.

It was one of the best experiences we had with a game. The action is really amazing when you get a handle on all the attacks available. Countering is a must in this game and it takes some time to master. The cutscenes, graphics, sound, and voice acting are top-notch. Nariko is an amazing character with a lot of depth to match her beauty.

For those who only played the demo, I should mention that the levels involving Kai are some of the most fun in the game. Basically, Kai is an archer and is often tasked with protecting characters while they make their way across the screen (similar to Sly Cooper games). The twist is that you can hold the fire button as you shoot and the screen changes to a view of the projectile as it flies through the air. You then guide the arrow with motion controls toward the target. It takes some time to get used to but ends up being really satisfying when you nail multiple targets in succession. Hearing people screaming in your ears to shoot that @$$ just adds to the fun.

Ok Guys.... GREAT GREAT NEWS!
Spoilers too....
So don't read ahead if you haven't played out the game...

Nina Kristensen from developer Ninja Theory:
Quote
The beautiful thing about inventing a universe like that of Heavenly Sword is that you get to make up all the rules and happily, in the Heavenly Sword universe, just because you're dead, it doesn't mean your life is over ;)

...We haven't announced anything as yet but I can confirm that when we wrote the original story we did write it as a trilogy...

Quote
Those of you hoping Sony and Ninja Theory plan to revisit Heavenly Sword would have been encouraged by a launch event for Andy Serkis' new games industry networking organisation Games Eden on Wednesday, where a spokesperson for Ninja Theory repeatedly and perhaps revealingly referred to the developer's only PS3 project to date as "Heavenly Sword 1".

It's not the first hint we've had that Ninja Theory plans to make more than one Heavenly Sword game. Earlier this year, co-founder Tameem Antoniades said in a podcast that the original idea had been a "three-game story", and that the second phase of that is already written. Indeed, that there was "no reason why there shouldn't be a sequel".

Heavenly Sword - one of your favourite PS3 games to judge by the reader ratings on our gamepage - is an action game that follows red-haired fighter Nariko in a big old battle against naughty evildoers, upon whom she unloads quite a lot of spiffy and well-framed violence in glorious detail, and with good cut-scenes - to which Andy Serkis (of first paragraph fame, not to mention Eurogamer TV Show fame) obviously contributed.

Lol if I`m not mistaken shivadee finds that model Nariko is hot and he/she sounds like a girl to me so shivadee are you hiding something from us ?

I think we should open up a confessions club to help people like shivadee with gender problems and try to make them straight but if Shivadee thinks it is wise to like the same gender we should support him in his time of need and not bring him down .

Lets all hope shivadee turns out good , `peace be on to earth. `
