Stormworm thunders onBotnet is 1.8 million computers strongBy Nick Farrell: Wednesday 05 September 2007, 22:52IF YOU HAVE the Stormworm worm on your PC you could be part of a growing community of more than 1.8 million who are sending me spam.That is the figure of PCs that MessageLabs reckon have been compromised and turned into zombies by the worm.The latest StormWorm variants use postcards and YouTube video requests to distribute the Trojan code. They are fairly obvious too.August 15 was the best day for the worm having distributed 600,000 emails in just 24 hours.The Agriculture sector is the most spammed sector in the universe with 66.9 percent getting spam. Fortunately a lot of that industry are cows and sheep who would probably eat it.The Finance sector is the least spammed sector with 30.5 percent. µ
