The failures will stop (hopefully) when they start sending out boxes with the new 'Falcon' CPU.  I say, wait until Christmas or
early next year to buy a 360.  Of course by that time the game library will be rather extensive.
I stand by that statement....
Awaits FALCON cou 360...and will wait a bit longer to see if any fails...

cuz as proven on many online sources...the elite 360 fails as well...

I think it's the Trinidad Heat and Humidity, cause I live in NY, have my 360 Premium since January 2006 and have never ever had a problem, I have used it with the 360 standing up and lying down and it runs so cold that the only heat is from the air at the back of the unit. I am not sure but I think that the towel trick actually makes it worse, ask CowSquad, he used that trick and his died for good, stiffled the poor thing to death. Anyways, I think the high failures are just poor manufacturing and planning on Microsoft's behalf and the 3 year warranty is a must especially with this high failure rate, but it turns into more of a hassle to return the unit than anything else. I would still hold out till the 65nm chips are implemented until buying your first. I feel sorry for all those of you who have gotten the RROD, it's a shame Microsoft doesn't just chalk it up to experience and replace all the defective units with the new 65nm model. Make everyone happy. HALO 3 FTW!!

No, many people have their units on all the time in trinidad and no problems. I have only used mine in an AC environment and it still failed.

The 360 failure rate is 33%
And MS still hasnt gone public with the "exact" cause of it.

Its amazing that after all this time...mine still works (knock on wood), when others purchased after I did are failing left
and right.  I guess I was just lucky enough to get a trouble free one.

Besides me and Redlum, does anyone else have one that still works without any issues?

LOL, good point we never see Arcman on Live. But I have to thank God that mine has lasted for 3 years STRONG (*KNOCKING ON AMAZON RAINFOREST whatever is left after de-forestation and environmental devastation by man) But there are the 77% that are out there that work great with no problems...I am sticking to my original theory of the Trinidad HEAT is too much for the 360 design...

Hey! Like what I said, I bought it at a best buy in Florida so that's where i'm supposed to return it, because I got the two year contract with it.

Just so people know. If you are buying a new xbox, look for one's with the 175watt power supply. Those are the Falcon chipset.

Call 18004MYXBOX, they will want the console serial number, a US address and phone number to send a prepaid UPS shipping box to. You pack the xbox without cables or hard drive into this cardboard box and send it back to the service center. It takes about 2 - 3 weeks to be repaired and shipped back. Also note that they can and often do send you back a refurbished unit so it may not be the same console you sent.
