Acer installs Ubuntu
Following Dell

COMPUTER MAKER Acer seems to have followed Dell's lead and started preinstalling Ubuntu in at least one range of its laptops.
So far there has been only one reported advertisement for an Ubuntu based product, in Singapore. Ubuntu has been shoved under the bonnet of its Intel duel core Aspire 5710z machines which are selling for £326.
So far there has been no official word from Acer.
Fellow hardware maker Dell has been doing quite well out of its Ubuntu range and seems to be planning to increase the availability of its range. µ
Ubuntu could very well have the best chance to become the major Linux distro thanx to deals with dell and Acer... thats #3 and #4 PC manus in the world right there... with acer showing the LARGEST and fastest market growth, esp outside the US.
