I comin to duss out all allyuh men (except Redlum *sigh*). I startin to order the parts for my Uber Rig by next week. here's what i'll be gettin....

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (hoping to get at least 3.4Ghz out of it)
- ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP@n Motherboard
- 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 Ram (hoping to get at least 1800-1900Mhz out of it)
- Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Cooler

I've decided to wait a month for Nvidia's new card to launch, but i'll be getting one if they're fast enough. check out my sig for more specs.

Just make sure you invest in a proper case and PSU for those eh....

...and the Q9300 is a better value.  Currently 275 US on Amazon (get em while they're 'hot').
Would you actually pay a whole hundred more US for an extra 100 MHz speed? ???

PSU -  Antec TruePower Quattro 850W
Case - Antec 900
CPU - Already ordered actually, so too late now  and i would pay extra for twice the L2 Cache fyi. the 9300's cheaper for a reason.

Ummm, if I may interject here.

It has ben shown that large amounts of CPU cache is beneficial only in certain specialized applications like heavy duty video encoding and 3d rendering (read maya) and such. There is very little advantage when it comes to gaming power.

Yes the q6300 has half the cache which sounds like a lot less. It IS a lot less but will the difference be very noticable? Not so much.

And if I have taught you guys anything, its that a "lowly" cpu can be whittled and used as a bullpistle on those higher end cpu's benchie wise. So yea...

2 X OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz

i'm reading correctly that you intend to run 4096MB x 2 = 8192MB??

make sure you runnin 64Bit OS.

and i would wait a lil while before buyin dat 9800, it might be better to wait for nVIDIA 2** Series or DAMMIT answer. my 2c

Yes 8GB, and Why 64 bit?? are there any perks with going down that road with that amt of memory?
I could wait for the cards, but..... i waiting more than 3 MC YEARS!!!! To beast a lil game on a system at my home without the dependecy on GLs( not that they bad or anything), but they started to look like crackhouses for me to get a little digital high, esp since Gatt HQ get..... I doh wah talk bout it :crybaby2: :protest:......I need to get my game on NOW!!!!!!!!
hoss, why wait when he can buy that now, SWEAT!!!!.....and STILL buy the new hardware when it comes out. lol

You see the specs the man put down?? money ain't a prob.

Yeah money aint a prob, entirely and I have plans to give dad the 9800GTX and get something better for myself that way i could train him for the battlefield, (he have real mouth!!!

32 bit OS's cant allocate >3GB RAM

i.e. you could have 4GB and still get stuck using < that, because, for example, XP Pro can't allocate > that, is one of the major reasons for themz thurr 64 bit OS's

I've got 4gig of ram but windows XP only sees 3.5gb of it. Not a big prob, losing 512mb of mem on an XP OS since 3.5GB is pretty much overkill anyway.

Not the case if you're going 8gig and losing a whopping 4.5GB of installed system memory. lol. That's just wrong. Vista 64 iymc.

^well, i kinda have enough paper put aside for both a good cpu and gpu so dais not a problem. and besides, graphics design is a field that i'm interested in, so the extra cache might come in handy. i'm not only thinking of gaming with this bad boi (but it is my primary reason for getting it :) ).
