A MAN IS REPORTED TO have been killed by his mobile phone.

The 22-year-old welder in North-western China died when his phone battery blew up.

The device tore into the man's chest, breaking a rib and forcing it into his heart. He died in hospital.

The Qatar News Agency said the man was working in a hot corner of a factory in Shuangcheng, in Gansu Province on June 19.

The manufacturer of the phone is known to the authorities, if not to us right now. The firm has been informed and is investigating, according to the local paper Lanzhou Chenbao. µ

So imagine if it was his pants pocket.....  :shakehead:

...Not to mention China is the CAPITAL of phone knockoffs with their inferior design and lax standards. Who knows how many people get injured but you never hear about it!!

Well if you like you can try this test:
1. Get 2 cell phones
2. 1 egg holder or anything to hold egg between 2 cells
3. Call 1 cell to the other
4. Leave the call for 1 hr
5. Check on egg...

Supposedly it should be boilt....
Anyone with a Digicel phone should be able to test this with Free after 3... just hadda pay for the initial 3 mins...
Think of it this way... if it boils the egg... then what do you think its doing to ur brain?

(yeah I know I sould like a 80s drug commercial LMAO)

Exploding Motorola cellphone killed man in China
Posted on 06.07.2007 at 02:32 in Tech News by Martin

Not only laptops, but now also cellphones can transform into dangerous explosive toys. A 22-year-old welder in China was killed after his Motorola cell phone exploded in the man’s chest pocket. Motorola officials are working with Chinese authorities to figure out what caused the explosion. The phone reportedly was exposed to high temperatures before it blew up. Xiao Jinpeng, a welder at the Yingpan Iron Ore Dressing Plant in Jinta county in western China’s Gansu province, was killed on June 19 when the battery in his cell phone exploded, according to an Associated Press report from Xinhua, China’s state news agency. The Motorola cell phone was in Xiao’s chest pocket, and had reportedly been exposed to high temperatures before it exploded, Xinhua said. Rib fragments pierced Xiao’s heart following the explosion. After emergency treatment failed, Xiao reportedly died at a local hospital.

While there have been several reports of injuries in the past, this appears to be the first fatality resulting from a cell phone battery explosion. It has not yet been determined whether the battery was an original Motorola battery or not, according to reports. “Motorola’s priority is, and always has been, the safety of our customers, and all Motorola products are designed, manufactured and tested to meet or exceed international and local standards for consumer safety and performance,” Motorola spokesperson Jennifer Erickson told TechNewsWorld.”At this time, preliminary evidence suggests that it is highly unlikely that a cell phone caused this accident; however, we are cooperating with the Chinese authorities to determine and investigate the root cause,” Erickson added. “Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with the individual’s family and friends,” she said.

Yeah...that was proven bogus on Braniac. They used as much as 100 cellphones, and the yolk wasn't even warm when they broke it open.

if cell phones worked like walkie talkies then 'amybe' that boiling an egg thing would be true... stueps

i wonder what all those cell towers are for if cell phones connect directly to other cells, lol

maybe the blimp with it's RADAR can detect if the egg is properly boilt just by listening in on the conversations, lol
