I had absolutely no problem at all with Grid, but then I used Vista 32-bit. Look closely though,
I used the EP
45
-DS3L, not the EP
35
-DS3L.
I say upgrade to the
P45 version
. I can almost guarantee that all your issues would be solved.
Consider using Vista x64 as well.

Yeah...I wondered about that myself. I think its a BIOS issue.
Not even the latest CPU-Z (1.49) detecting the proper CPU name.
A BIOS update might be in order, because 4 GHz causes bluescreens...no matter what memory or voltage setting. More research immc.

I heard about that. The specs of that card are damn impressive.
This is a good development. It will drive down the price of the 4870X2 enough
so that I can get another one.

Nah, not for crossfire. As a 'spare'. Maybe even a 4850X2 for the LAN rig.

What handgun? You mean shotgun...
One BIOS update and several hours of tweaking later...
This CPU is a keeper.

I shall do some proper stress testing this weekend. We shall see how it fares, stability-wise.
I have a feeling though, that it may fail a sustained stress test, as I had to use 1.4V Vcore
to get the system stable enough to pass the CPU tests in 3DMark06.
Right now I'm looking for the proper combo of auxiliary voltages (Vtt, NB, SB, PLL, etc) to have everything
completely stable.
Surprisingly though, the BIOS update seems to have improved the temp reporting from the on-board sensors.
CPU idle temp is 35C. Max load temp, even at 4 GHz, is approx 45C. Thats a whole lot better than the Q9300,
which was idle at 42C, and 55C at load...and that was at 3 GHz.
Intel has seemingly worked some kinda thermal magic with this CPU.
