Go back and look at my 8800 GT score again...but anyway...

*launches tactical strike to reclaim/pwn bases*

Oh yes...and that's at the card's stock settings, in Vista no less.  Don't worry, XP benchmarks will follow soon.
Notice the massive amounts of EPIC WINNAGE over the max OC of the Q9300/8800 GT combo.

If you didn't know before...now you know.  The HD4870 IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST!!! :awesome:

...and sorry, no Mass Effect (steups)

*puts on doctor's glasses*

doing some GATT benchmark research, i realise your old 8800gt scores, go back to your q6600 days, your cpu score was 5000+ with your q9300 it's only bout 4000+ (acknowledged that it's only at 3ghz). I presume, that since at stock the large quantities of epic win that this card already provides, an OC of that bitch of a cpu and the Mariah Carey of a card, will put you somewhere in the reach of let's say.. 19000+ 3dmarks? Nothing is impossible just mathematically improbable..

lolz ok enough crap... that is a mega uber nasty card son!!.. 7000+ on d hdr score stock?!?!!?... EPIC WIN INDEED

THIS IS VISTAAA!!!...ahem. I mean, he's running Vista now whereas back then he was on XP.

(SP1 for Vista I hope Arc)

Personally, I plan on getting a q6600 because of its epic bang fo buck.

Nex month 4 dat.

even if it's vista, the difference still lies in the oc, i mean he didn't push the cpu that far and look at the score.. god knows what will happen if he did, hence the reason why i said 19000+

cpu speed scales well with 3dmark06, but not THAT well. 1900+ points is impossible with a single hd4870...even if the cpu was at 4ghz.

the q6600 is a faster chip vs the 9300 overall, but it runs hotter and uses more power

as far as bang for buck the 6600 is king

BTW the 4870 should hit 16-17k marks with some tlc

Hmmm...almost.

I never tested the Q6600 in Vista so I dunno for sure what its performance might be.

XP benchies tomorrow.

Recently I was conversing with the upgradeaholic in me (lets call him 'Holic') and Holic says: '...yo Arc, since the HD4870 is only 290 US,
why not get another one?'  To which I said '...but I will need a bigger PSU too', and Holic replied '...but you can afford that too'.
After some careful consideration, I finally relented and decided invest in another Visiontek HD4870 and a Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850W.

Lets just say Holic was very persuasive.

Anyway, this thread serves to explore the current viability of a multi-GPU setup using a Crossfire configuration.
My current motherboard, the Abit IP35-Pro has two PCI-E 16x slots.  However these slots operate electrically at 16x/4x in dual-card mode.
I am fully aware that this is not the ideal setup for Crossfire as this board even isn't officially Crossfire certified, but I have already compensated for that (Holic again ).

Yes...its officially super upgrade time again. :happy0203:

Since that 'compensation' may not arrive for a while, I shall use my current motherboard to do some preliminary benchies.
Barring any unforseen circumstances (or Ezone stickage) I shall recieve these items tomorrow.  If I can tear myself away from MGS4 long enough,
I will put these cards through their paces.

One of the merits of working in a financial institution's IT division is the substantial amount of OT
than can accumulate in a given month.  Also, I don't drink, smoke or 'party' on a regular basis.
So this is my hobby.  I am a computer hardware enthusiast/gamer, and this is my 'drug'. :)

...and yes, I'd probably need a new liver by now. :laughing7:
