I can't believe this stellar new game doesn't have its own thread yet...

Get this game if you're even REMOTELY into racing. It won't disappoint.

Generally, it feels more like Race Driver: GRID than GRID 2, and that's a GOOD thing,
as GRID 2 seemed a little too arcadey for me. Autosport leans more on the simulation side of the line.

One thing to note: the EGO engine that powers this game will absolutely MURDA your GPU(s).
If you know you have issues with airflow, I'd advise not running this game unless you're sure
that your graphics-card is getting LOTS of cooler air. Even with my AC on I'm still seeing temps of 70C and above
while running this, but then I have most of the settings cranked up. YMMV of course.

Don't walk...RUN and get this one.

As tempting as the new X99 platform is, it'll just have to wait on me for a little longer...probably till 2016.

(That MSI X99 board is so SEXY though

Can't argue with such a substantial jump in performance on the CPU and GPU fronts.
Unfortunately, it seems like my motherboard doesn't have the necessary power-phases to push his particular CPU to anything past 4.2 GHz.
I'm actually getting hard crash-reboots, as opposed to BSODs, which tells me that there's a power delivery issue there somewhere at higher frequencies,
which is to be expected, as this 3930K is substantially more power-hungry than the 3820. I'm happy with it as is...it's rock-solid stable at 4.2 GHz (yes, I tested the f@#K out of it

).

Got it from eBay though, where monitors tend to be a bit cheaper (sometimes). Don't know why, but I wasn't complaining.

I think i read about a new version of Firestrike which caters to owners of 2560 x 1440 monitors, you should run a bench and see how your system really performing at that res.

Yes folks, the time has come to face that particular demon.....maintenance.

After noticing some alarming load temps, and some 'consultation', I have decided to dismantle the loop...drain it and flush it.
I may even take the Rasa CPU block completely to ensure there's no buildup.

Something is impeding the loop, and I aim to find it.

OK i misread the firestrike thing.

The Firestrike extreme renders up to 1440p, the Firestrike Ultra (the new one) tests at 4k resolutions.

So I took the CPU block apart, and found this...

Totally gunked up.
That explains the load temps I'm getting.

So one cooling loop rebuild later...

Temps are down 10C across the board.
Average load temp is a very respectable 75C...down from the alarmingly high 86-88C I was seeing before.

Got rid of the original XSPC tubing, and went with a more flexible set.
Also, instead of using the Feser One coolant I used before, I ended up using this added to distilled water. Works out way cheaper.

Took the opportunity to put in a nice new LED fan too.

75 degrees kinda high to me, then again is a hex core u have dey and most games doh max out the cpu really.

Nah, is only 4 x 4GB.

I've been monitoring the price in cart every day for MONTHS, and it just happened to drop down to 180 US (from 299 US), so of course I grabbed it one time.

Have you SEEN the prices of these DDR4 kits? Preposterous. (Especially the Corsair ones)
