As a recent victim of WoW addiction (about 2 months), I was a little disturbed when I noticed an issue while playing. I received my new Velocity Micro PC last week with Vista Home Premium and reinstalled WoW on it. After playing a bit, the sound just disappeared in the game. I exited the game, went back in and noticed that there was still no sound. I exited again and tried to play a regular AVI video file. There was no sound in that either. I rebooted the PC and the sound was restored. It happened again later on. At first, I thought it was a Vista issue and decided to try a dual boot with XP. It happened on XP as well. I then found out that there is an issue with X-Fi cards and WoW. I thought that this would be helpful for others to know before buying a X-Fi card. I am now using my onboard Realtek sound and it works fine so far.
