Yea but you might. Little bit will add up. Plus remember less power means less heat.

arrite, out of frustration in waiting for my CPU, i have started the build without it for the time being - i've chosen to test the system with an A64 3500+ i have lying around
here are some sneek previews:
first-off i had to fix the heat-pipe from the Chipset
...the pipe wasn't bent correctly, and it left half the chipset NOT in contact with the copper base, you can see the chipset with the base removed
RAM
Pre-CPU install
HSF fitted
POWER UP!

hmmm... sumthing quite abnormal is happening with the system, since loading the OS, i find that the OS HD (Seagate) stays at a constant Temp. of 32C(satisfied with that temp of course:P), and my Docs. HD(Western Digital) varies in temp. ALOT - lowest 34C, highest 55C(copying files to it) ...anyone have any ideas?? is it a WD SATA thingy & nVIDIA Chipset issues?? other than that, the HDD activity light NEVER goes out, it's constantly on from boot-up
...if i didn't see the temperature and didn't mind the HDD activity light, i would never know that there might be a problem with the drive, as it works flawlessly!!
...HELP!!!

Well, if you didn't have that problem on another mobo, then it seems to be an issue with the SATA controller on that new mobo.
Its not an uncommon problem. It could be a driver issue as well. Make sure you have the latest Nforce drivers as well.
Too many times I've gotten problems with the CD-supplied drivers, that were instantly corrected by a driver update.
Try it. You never know.....

sorry to bit up yuh styles so Arc
the lighted bay is my fan speed control, it's easier to adjust the fan speeds from there, rather than opening de case
oh! and btw, the silly hdd light problem i was having seems to have stayed with the last case, the light actually flickers in the Antec!! i suspect that the voltage on the port is higher than the LED in the suspect case could handle, so it never really dims enuff to see with the eye, anyways... i GLAD!!
and my CPU temp. is idle 27C ...a full 5C less than in the previous case!! the HDD temp. is 29C (actually higher than the CPU, LOL!!). The ambient temp in the office at the time is 24C
3C rise isn't bad ehh!!
