But ducking on twenty bucks? Tsk, tsk, tsk.....nah, man. I expected a lot better than that.
It's one thing to lose a match, but it's another thing to not be man enough to swallow your pride and cough up what's been wagered. I'm sure if the situation was reversed, he'd be demanding his moo-nay.

I didn't expect better.  It's not a stretch of the imagination to know what's happened before is happening again.

I think I should probably get in on this money match thing.  Seems like the only way to get a game in these days.  Probably means I'd have to start playing again...NICE.

Putting your money where your mouth is is the way to go.
Mengsk roll up in Java and say nobody in de country beat him in CvS2. After redeyes who did beat him before was saying that he beat him he challenged redeyes for $5 a game. redeyes does not play money matches so he came and bothered me from my WoW to play.
Yuh hafta to pay if yuh movin a man from he power levellin.
Plus it ads intensity to the game.
Imagine big man like mengsk playing and he hands shakin' like a cub scout in the dark's knees.

money matches run the risk of making the game too serious.

I'm all for competition but at the extreme end it brings out the worst in people. Money matches = that extreme end. You should see the behaviour of some SOF players when $2000.00 on the line.

After playing thousands of matches competitively, I am happy to conclude that same level of fun and adrenalin can be had with only pride and honor hanging in the balance.

The arcade is a lil different rb, where the arcade owner and the machine is taking your $$ in the form of a coin. Not the same as handing the opponent $10 out of your wallet for a wuppin. Adding insult to injury. lol

How is this for a change?

Had a recent run in with a competitor down south that wanted to wager a lil $$. Opted to place a beastly cold Fruta on the line instead. When the match was over, everyone had a drink and the sting of defeat was softened by the camaraderie of  sharing a beverage with your fellow gamer.

Not saying you guys should do battle over Smirnoffs but just putting the idea out there, as an alternative to money matches.

The arcade scene is no different.  I've witnessed money matches over EX2 plus and hyper for sums of up to $20 a game going on for about 30 something plus matches when I got there.

It's all dependant on what you want from your gaming experience I think.
