Homeland Security sources said there is no current threat at the airport and that the attack as planned was "not technically feasible."

The alleged plot did not target airplane flights.

"Anytime you hit Kennedy, it is the most hurtful thing to the United States. To hit John F. Kennedy, wow...they love JFK -- he's like the man. If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning. It's like you can kill the man twice," one of the suspects said during a recorded phone conversation, officials said.

The airport is named in honor of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.

At a Justice Department news conference Saturday afternoon, the plotters were described as "a determined group" whose signature was persistence.

One of the four was arrested in the United States: Former JFK cargo worker, Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen and native Guyanan, who was arrested in Brooklyn, New York, according to a written statement from the Department of Justice.

The other suspects were identified as Abdul Kadir of Guyana, Kareem Ibrahim of Trinidad, and Abdel Nur. The United States plans to seek extradition of the three men charged outside the United States.

I mean come on people, Trinidad is a peaceful (or once was) country, with friendly people, great food, and NOW Terrorists! That's wonderful, the year I decide to make a trip home for vacation this crap has to ruin it. Agree with Redlum on this one. It refllects poorly on our country and it makes me very sad. There are so many peacfull people and hard working ppl in Trinidad and it have to be ONE f*ckup to spoil everyones hard work. I hope the STUPIDITY that exists in Trinidad amongst those in charge of their international and domestic relations is FORCED to change for the better. I woke up sunday... round 2pm... walked out checked what was for lunch, was told a Trini involved in a plot to blow up jfk, checked it on Express online... thought... FCUK... *sighed* and went back to bed... and I was looking forward to buying some doubles for meh cous... now this $H1T happen and even my ideas to GO to the US have been put on hold... MCs... I know they're calling on the US, but I'd wager action against sudan would mean involving the UN, as it's opposing a government, and not militants - and yeah, I realize it's not something that would stop bush, but the UN should step in. Too bad dafur doesn't have oil.

Where's their so-called 'proof'? They'll never reveal it fully, because it might be another
'weapons of mass destruction' debacle.

This is the SAME US gov't that has sponsored 'revolutionaries' all around the world, to depose
regimes that were not 'with' them on foreign policy.

Remember the 'mujahadeen' in their war against the USSR in Afghanistan? Sponsored by the CIA (in secret of course).

Don't take everything you see or hear at face value. Do you think its a coincidence that these
'terrorists' were 'found' in TT and Guyana, which just HAPPENS to share a border with Venezuela?

Come on people. The US gov't feels everyone in the third world is still stupid, but I'm not.
This whole 'terror plot' smells of a big fat setup. Remember, the US doesnt think too highly of Hugo Chavez
these days. This 'plot' business could be the start of much more US involvement in the region.

Don't be surprised if one morning you see the USS Nimitz parked in the Gulf Of Paria just off the coast.

If I was planning to go to the US in the near future, I would have been normally worried...but honestly, I wouldn't dismiss the idea of having issues with Venezuela behind this scene...

In any case, who is involved indirectly in this whole case....the Muslimeen again...things like this will continue to happen until they are quashed, but nobody is willing to do it and face the consequences...

The falklands War was fought between Britain and a former Argentinian regime , the brits launched bombers from England itself that travelled 8000km to strike at argentinian forces in the falklands...

Tactically it would be stupid to park a carrier 7 miles from the coast of venezuala , well in range of Castro's firepower.... They can launch all the air strikes they need from the states itself , with mid air refueling if need be .
