High-End Buyers' Guide: May 2007 by Anandtech

Well on top of the hardward comparision  link Arc posted recently, I'm submitting this link for those who want a high end system..

Be warned... they split the hi-end systems into 'basic' and 'ultra' hi end!!

Arc's rig just barely makes the basic qualification... I definitely gonna go intel at year end!

WOW!!  The BASIC Intel system has TWO 8800 GTS (640 MB).

DAMMMMMNNNNN.....

My system is smack dab in the 'midrange' category

I see they have the Antec 900 as an alternative case choice.  I wonder why?

wow

intel rox

the e6600 is at the price point that the e6400 used to be

that is an amd killer right there
once oced @ that price there is no better value for money
and then they gonna be slicing the price of the quad cores soon
thats nasty marketing on intel's part...

Actually, AMD did drop prices slightly before intel.
The x2 6000+ was quite the match for the e6600. Though for any tweaker, the e6600 still had the better performance as there was a lot of overclockability in the core.

For users adamant on running stock, amd did have that better value for a week ;) Intel probably didn't HAVE to match it performance/price, but in doing so, they just made it better for us ;)

While I really doubt amd can pull off phenom before intel rolls out penryn (which has even better ipc AND clock than core 2) I'm really hoping it's competitive.

Any of you remember how "fast" processors were developing through years 2004-2006?
:P random text doesn't go out of date does it?
