lol @ 3mbits requirement. That's just silly.

1 mbit should be more than enough. I'll bet serious money on that. 8mb up and down to play a 4v4 rts? insanity.

But yeah boy w1n, if I'm wrong and that's the case, the GLs will see a massive resurgence. As an added bonus, their existing hardware will be able to run the game as is without need  for upgrades.

DoWs days as the unofficial starcraft 2 are drawing to an end.

Well it doesn't matter to me, I was mainly going to play this for LAN....I would have been surprised if my rig couldn't have run the game, but it looks like my laptop should be able to run it, albeit @ low graphics settings...hopefully my new laptop later on would run this quite decently...

I'm betting that those specs are much higher than necessary,

If anyone remembers Warcraft III's recommended specs : 600mhz , 256mb RAM, 32mb video card back in 2002 when 2.4GHZ Pentium 4s were out , and 128mb Geforce 4s and Radeon 9700s were available.

WoW released in 2004 , runs on a geforce 2 and 800mhz pentium 3 with 256 RAM (minimum), recommended was a 1.5ghz P4 , 512R RAM and a R9600 . This is when 3.4ghz P4s , Athlon 64s and Geforce 6800s were out.

By Contrast , in 2004 Doom 3's Minimum requirements more or less equaled WoW's recommended , 1.5ghz, 384mb RAM , 64mb Geforce 4.

SC2 is aimed for a mass market release similar to the two games previously mentioned, and will have similar requirements for its era .

I'm betting the minimum requirements will look more like this :

CPU : 2ghz P4
RAM : 512mb
GPU : Radeon 9600 , geforce 6200 or the latest integrated chipset stuff

Recommended :

CPU : 3.2GHZ
RAM : 1GB - 1.5GB (more for vista)
GPU : Geforce 6800 / Radeon X800 .

we'll see how right i am in a few months

go to starcraft2.com. They have updated the site and has a new gameplay footage. Look for the download link on the frontpage. The vid is called battlereport.

just in case you didn't find it:

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

a rush strat is all dependent on the nature of the map, not the game engine itself. The map in the battle report had a natural choke and a little distance between the bases. That makes a basic rush a bad choice.

very reminiscent of Lost Temple on the original starcraft. Rushing on that map was near suicide. Might as well type gg after.

Temple also has a natural and less accessible expansion in close proximity (air units required). one of the better and endearing map designs.
