You'll hear the chip makers banging on about the relative power consumption of their server or mobile chips, but in the home, and especially in the gaming market, power requirements are going through the feebly-insulated roof.Why else would Antec, box maker to the geek, feel the need to introduce a turbo-charged case featuring a 1200 Watt dual power supply, and five fans?The P190 is Antec's most powerful yet, in extended ATX format with plenty of space for bits and bobs. The 650 Watt and 550 Watt Neo-Link power supply combo is designed for such parts such as multi-core CPUs, multi-card graphics set-ups and 10,000+ RPM hard drives, says the company.The chassis features a 200mm side-mounted three-speed fan, the ‘Big Boy’, Antec’s largest fan to date. The case has twin top-mounted 140mm fans with three-speed control for a choice between maximum cooling and minimum noise. For further cooling, the case includes a rear-mounted 120mm fan. The box is fitted with air filters reduce the risk of dust and debris entering the system.Despite its hefty spec, the P190 is designed to be quiet. Its large fans are able to move greater amounts of air while turning more slowly and running more quietly. The side panels, says Antec, are made of a "unique dual-layer sound-deadening material" and silicone grommets for the hard drive mounts are claimed to prevent vibrations, further reducing noise.The P190 will be available in the UK in May for around £287. µ
