New Intel chipset brings DDR3 RAM to the table
« on: May 22, 2007, 07:41:21 AM »
Intel launches their new P35 and G33 chipsets next month.
Among other things, the most significant feature is the implementation of DDR3 RAM.

Details, including benchmarks, here.

Thing about it is, like DDR2 adoption, it will really only start to shine when we start seeing DDR3-1600 and up cause latency is always an issue in the early stages. Also what's the benefit in performance of DDR31066 over DDR21066 if any? these are questions to ask and naturally most ppl won't start adoption until at least 6 months after launch.

I think this is the board that WASD is referring to.

Nice idea here.  Note the position of the notch.  Same pin-count, but different notch to tell em apart.

In this case, the DDR3 slots would be the green ones.

The board is quite a performer as well.  A good choice if you now building a new Core2Duo system, and want a little 'future-proofing'.

As for features (Crixx) its right here in the same article i quoted above.
