Actually turtle rhymes with Murtle but not purple. We have just all become too accustomed to the modern day rap artist giving us "near enough" rhymes so it kinda sounds like purple and turtle rhymes but it really doesn't and the fact that we even debating this topic means that we all have too much time on our hands.

Depends on how you define rhyme in the strictest sense...

Well as long as we done talking about it...lol....Isn't Murtle is a person's name? so technically it is not actually a word per se. How do u really determine what rhymes or not.

It is a word it just happens to be a proper noun. Many names can be found in the dictionary and have standard meanings (e.g. Dan, Cassandra, Sue, Nick, etc.) But the point I was getting at was that turPle would rhyme with purPle but turTle doesn't because the sound is not quite the same.

Dread... some of those belong in the WDMC thread... like:
In 1386, a pig in France was executed by public hanging for the murder of a child -> Those cheeky french bastards!!!

The first known transfusion of blood was performed as early as 1667, when Jean-Baptiste, transfused two pints of blood from a sheep to a young man -> What was HE doing?

Honey is the only food that does not spoil. Honey found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs has been tasted by archaeologists and found edible. -> Crazy white ppl

Coca-Cola would be green if colouring weren’t added to it. -> *Blinks*

The placement of a donkey's eyes in its' heads enables it to see all four feet at all times! -> I can't even imagine what that must 'look' like to them.. OO_OO

It's against the law to burp, or sneeze in a church in Nebraska, USA. -> WDMC???

Some worms will eat themselves if they can't find any food! -> That's canabalism on a WHOLE NEXT LEVEL

Queen Elizabeth I regarded herself as a paragon of cleanliness. She declared that she bathed once every three months, whether she needed it or not -> Gross

A man named Charles Osborne had the hiccups for 69 years! ->I Guess he lost it when he died?

"There is a city called Rome on every continent."

Not Antartica.

"It is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open"

It isn't. You can, theoretically, do it and there's a high chance you'll pop your eyes out.
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

Hate to burst your bubble, but a few of those 'facts' are actually wrong.
For example:

17. The electric chair was invented by a dentist.

Nope. Thomas Edison has dibs on that. He did it to show that alternating current has the potential to kill people.

Coca-Cola would be green if colouring weren’t added to it.

No, it's not. The only thing that ever was green in Coke production was the bottle.

"It is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open"

It isn't. You can, theoretically, do it and there's a high chance you'll pop your eyes out.

Yes and no. Yes, a few people are capable of sneezing with their eyes open.
And no, there is no chance whatsoever that your eyes will come out of your head if you do so.

Not even that freaky woman who appeared on Oprah who could voluntarily pop her eyes out of her head? I would think in her case it could happen :p

She didn't sneeze. And her eyes didn't pop out of her head, they merely bulged when she voluntarily moved her eye muscles. In any case, that's a rare case, and a bad example.
