game cafe robbed
« on: April 28, 2007, 01:22:51 PM »
yes people it happened. A cafe was robbed cleaned out and left with nothing. this is very sad news and its very disapointing to see these sort of things are happening to people who go the extra mile to see that gamers feel right at home, and now it feels like Diego Martin gamers are left in the street. and the cafe that they love so much is no more.  :crybaby2: if anyone has anymore detail please feel free to post.

Things like this to me smell of an inside rat. Sure you can monitor and scope out a place for week/months??? to determine the best way and time to pull this off.. but I can't shake the feeling that someone on the inside had their hands in this.... investigate dey mcs... and if/when yuh find dem , rest a 400lbs gaming rig on their chest and make them crawl on their backs from deigo to the mayaro police station to turn themselves in.

My sympathy to the cafe. We know the pain of this personally.

HQ got cleaned out in the earlies. Had a few smaller robberies after that. One of which was a confirmed insider job.

Haven't gotten confirmation on which cafe in diego myself.

Will try to find out tomorrow.

Yeah angelus I suppose you use pirated software and say it's the programmers fault for not securing there software properly of it's the record producers fault that most home PC's can easily allow us to rip CD's and burn copies. That is just a really narrowminded point of view but I guess it's OUR fault for not stopping you from posting.

WTF you taking, boy? Maybe someone should rob you or someone close to you . That is, unless you live in a really large cage, with all the food water and stimuli you need, safe from the rest of the world. But then I read so many time of break-ins where they cut open the roof, the cut the burglar proofing, one skinny bandit even use a MC car jack to bend the bars than squeeze his way in.

Another set of bandits break in to a 2 story house (burglar proofed) in the night. The house had proofing separating upstairs from downstairs. Know what the bandits did? WAITED (and ate and drank in the Kitchen!) until the victims awoke and came downstairs, THEN proceed to do their criminal deeds.

Begone from here with your jack@$$ness!!!

Think before you type!

(Hell, I had to be reminded of that last week!)

hmm.... yea this reallly happen to a couple closeby to where I live in palmiest, they so blessed to be alive today.

As for Angelus....doh beat him on de head, as a matter of fact i agree with him too a certain extent.
Not all robbery's cud be avoided an we cannot be blamed, like the one mentioned above, but at the same time some people jus careless when it comes to securing themselves an their valuables, we are ignorant and assume with a mind-set things are safe when they actually are not, they didnt put things in place properly and if they do it, is a halfway job,i think thats the point Angelus was tryin to make...not defending the criminals because thieving is wrong, plain an simple.

Remember something ppl. All the security measures (short of trained military survellence, living on a base in switzerland) are DETERENTS. Its unfair to say that ppl are to blame if they get robbed. Sure we are responsible for our own security but WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO BE? the fault resides SOLELY ON THE CRIMINALS. Don't try to place blame on ppl not looking after themselves well enough here? its not like they're INTENTIONALLY EATING KFC 24/7 knowing its BAD for them. They secured their homes in a manner they thought was enough of a deterant and were wrong.

Now I know what you may think, its the same as eating KFC knowing its bad for you. Not quite. You prolly think that, hey... they live in an area or country where you NEED to be more conscious of security.... NO, thats WRONG. Why should we have to live in a society where we're getting more accustomed to being SCARED TO LIVE our lives??? To reference my example of an eating establishment. KFC as a customer service should PROVICE (without pressure) the best possible SERVICE to its customers and that extends towards the quality of the food. A CRIMINAL is doing a DIS-SERVICE, he isn't responsible for providing good service or providing the most healthy outcome to his victim. Thus the critical difference between the two. You can be responsible for eating crap but how can you be responsible EVEN a little for being robbed? The ONLY person's that should be even catergoricaly stated as being wrong are those that walk around with a sign around their neck saying PLEASE ROB ME. Other than that, it's a CRIMINAL invading someones personal space against that person's will.

Lastly don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from meaning they are also to blame, but the fact is thinking that we NEED to protect ourselves which NECESSARY is also part of the cycle of continuously adjusting our thinking and living to facilitate THEM. Which in the first place shouldn't happen, they should facilitate us... but let me stop before I start ranting about TREMENDOUSLY harsher punishments and methods of executing criminals..

yeah, it's nasty business

I'm glad to see so many people out there with sympathy for the owner.

Have to complete disagree with Angelus as well. Criminals are criminals. The blame falls squarely on their shoulder for committing a crime. Not the victim for "making it easy".

Carelessness is one thing but it's no excuse for crime.

For example, a 10 year old kid got his cell phone stolen at his birthday at GATT HQ recently. Sure,  he probably rest it down by his PC. Does that make it right for a fellow gatt member to steal it? No.

Totalpower said the guy responsible for the robbery was an insider. A worker. Someone he trusted and brought up under his wing.

At HQ we also had an incident where a worker betrayed our trust and stole from us.

It's the kind of thing that makes me lose faith in our people. That we have to watch even our "friends" as potential bandits and smart men.

That is just sad.

Yes we should all realize by now that security is a necessary evil. We shouldn't have to cage ourselves and our possessions but in todays society it is almost a daily requirement. Evenso, there is nothing that could be guarded against in a case of an inside job. When you trust people and expect them to be as protective of your assets as you are that becomes a security flaw. Unless you live in a bubble away from all human contact there is no way you can ever be completely safe.

It's like something I read or heard some time ago about copy protection on CD's. If there is a way for a legitimate user to access the content of the disc then there is a way to crack the copy protection and sadly it is no different with a building. As long as there is a door or a window or an air vent there is a way for someone to get in and have their way with your possessions.

My condolences go out to Total and when he is up and running again I will make every effort to assist in anyway I can.

Shots in stereo. The AIDS man cometh!
