Newly released GF8800 cooling from Tt
« on: April 25, 2007, 09:48:56 PM »
Thermaltake has released a series of coolers of 3rd party coolers for top end cards. But the one I am interested is the

Thermaltake TMG ND5:

Product Page: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/Cooler/TMG/CL-G0099/cl-g0099.asp

If this can beat a stock cooler AND cut down on the noise, this is something I'd definitely go for. I hope the online reviews come quick.

Noise?  What noise?

The stock fan certainly not louder than the 6 fans (including CPU/HSF) in my system,
so I wonder of its usefulness.....

CPU idle temp = 36 C

CPU load temp = 47 C

I'll have to figure out how to record the GPU temps.

Anything to keep the heat down.

Check guru3d the temp on the 8600 gts xxx load is an astounding 80 C.

This cooler is very much welcomed to the owners of this and others like it (8 series)

Currently my gpu boast idle temps of 55 C and 100% load at 74 C. Naturally the
74 C gives graphical corruption. These smart alec card makers are overclocking their cards
and leaving stock coolers and when we opt for the third party coolers it voids our warranty.

Sorry bout the bitchin is just that i have a shitload of fans etc but i can't seem to keep my
gpu temp down and at the end of the year I should be throwing down an 8800GTX so
you really have to wonder which is more important a cool gpu or your warranty.

Anyway this looks nice

Not everybody want to have their PC simulate a turbine engine at home Arc. Very nice if you can handle all that noise. I have become noise conscious, however.

I using the Antec fan you so graciously donated to cool my hard drives. At max rpm the noise is definitely noticeable. In my previous system, the Video Card fan (and or CPU fan) was the loudest fan(s) in that rig if all other fans on low speeds. I welcome the new heat sink. Considering they have a GF7900 version of their heat sink, I may 'try' out the cooling on a 7900 before going up to 8800.

CPU idle temp = 36 C

I'll have to figure out how to record the GPU temps.

Display Properties > Settings tab > Advanced > tab for card model > Start Nvidia Control Panel > Monitor temperature levels (link on left hand side of new window)
