Got some info on blink's prices, i think this fits in here.
OK!!!
DSL ppl who suffering with their 256k - this package is the slowest speed on blink and it costs $79.99
if you want double your 256k or if the number 512 jus tickles your fancy then you will be paying about $150 a month for that
if your like me and dont mind paying the $350 for a 2 mb connection then there you have it 2 mb for the same price as 256k dsl.
AND FINALLY IF YOUR A UBER RICH BASTARD MOFO WITH RICH PARENTS THAT NEVER HOME! you can take the 10 mb package for round $600

AND i was surprised too. Its already AVAILABLE IN MORVANT. So none of allu have an excuse. I know im getting it

from tsttproblems -

Quote
CALLS to the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) may soon be answered by foreigners, according to Communication Workers' Union (CWU) president, John Julien.

He made the claim yesterday, as scores of TSTT workers protested outside the company's Independence Square, Port of Spain, branch.

Julien claimed that TSTT had outsourced part of its call centre to a call centre in India. He said if one calls to find out information in future they may be speaking to a national of India.

He added that TSTT is also "planning to replace our permanent jobs with contract workers" and over 200 workers stand to lose their jobs. He said he learnt from reliable sources that as of two days ago, the go-ahead was given to implement this new structure.

However, human resource manager at TSTT Edghill Messiah, said to date, none of the workers from TSTT had been sent home, neither had any of them been given letters to go home.

Commenting on the call centres, Messiah said this was nothing new, since the company had outsourced call centres in the past. He said with the introduction of their new broadband service, Blink, India was chosen as the call centre for answering questions because of their technical expertise in this field.

hmmm

I guess Peter Gilette/Open Telecom/DirecOne lost out on that contract

(and I have had only bad experiences dealing with customers from India living here...sigh)

thas bs!!!

for so many reasons!!  the user base in trinidad is not so huge that they would need to outsource
secondly, there are scores of talented techs in trinidad that could easily serve this purpose!!

i mean, trinidad has the most mcse's and mcps in the WHOLE Caribbean, thas not something that should be overlooked

That may be so Crixx, but the question is what kind of SALARY would those qualified people look to ask... the labour force in India is so reasonable that it would be more cost-effective, even with such a small market as ours.

I remember a lil web cartoon about a person that calls tech support, ended up with a guy from India on the other line, and the tech support guy makes as much for a week, as an American tech support will get in an hour.... though that would be exaggerated, it's not THAT far from reality... how can most countries compete with that type of labour cost?
Nagamete iru dake ja, itsumademo te ni dekinai...nagamete iru dake ja, kimi no mono ni wa naranai...

true... but how many techs with A+/Net+/MCSE/CIsco will want a job just answering phone all day? that just defeats the purpose of the level $$ spent, though it will be god for people/CSR skills.

and then i am sure you like all of us have had to deal with the arrogant ignorant $@@holes that misrepresent themselves as TSTT helpdesk... the kind that makes you want to wait outside Nelson exchange to slap down dey MC.
