I know for a fact PC is best for gaming...
(But only if you have the specs to enjoy the game at its optimal settings....)

Other than that... I'd go console (360/PS3) just because you don't need to have particular specs to run a game at its best...
not always pc has a different style of gaming and i dont think a good action/adventure game like god of war gonna work out on pc and if it did, Why would i play on my monitor when i have a nice big tv for games. I think a tv gets me a better gaming experience like 4 man fighting in loser come out street fighter lol. but you cant get a good MMORPG on consoles ( at least not yet ) so pcs ruling that and i love my rpgs.

The only thing I hadda say is after 3 hrs sweating FPS on a PC, I could NOT play FPS on the console... Iman was sweating some HL2 for 3 hrs then decided to go sweat a GOW... meh hands were cold from the AC in meh room sweating HL2 and I couldn't aim for $HIT on the console after using the mouse so long LOL.... GG...

sigh

to ENTERTAIN this thread.

I play PC games more now.....mostly lots of WoW. I do have my vices for Console games too. I have more fun with console games with a group of people hanging out than with a PC mostly because a console lime easier to setup than a PC lime and spur of the moment limes always turn out nicer anyway.

When im in Trini i play lots of console games. Up here....mostly PC games. Mostly online too, both PC and console.

Both.

Graphically, and for homebrew, the PC is always going to be top dog, but the funfactor for good games is the same on any system, so long as that system has enough good games produced for it.

FPS on a pc - best experience - BUT believe it or not, one of my best fps experiences has been playing coop with a friend in halo on the xbox. the co-op mode was missing on the pc because of some executive making a dumbass decision, and though you're controlling the game with a joystick, Halo moves like molasses, so it worked just fine. Nothing stopping the new gen from using mice either - and i'd love to see it done. The pc still has the edge in mouse signal refresh, graphics (by more than most realize), and other crap, but there's no reason why the average person can't get the same feeling of control and a similarly enjoyable experience.

The generation after this, will see more than simply 2 levels of options, and much more access to the console for homebrew no matter if it's intended or not. The next gen, will simply be non-x86 computers, in a vain attempt to control piracy, while getting a complete system to masses.

But what of the 3rd element Beo? the Wii has undoubtedly changed the variety available to us (hopefully for good)... the next console will hopefully be more interactive and the FPS being best on a PC may be a thing of the past... I look forward to CHANGE, INNOVATION and FUN factor of course..

Well, If you're referring to Wii's ability to record motion through hand waving, the widespread use of it in games is great, but I've had a Gyration mouse for sometime now - my original intent in it's use was to help someone who had been paralyzed use a computer - she was using a stick to tap keys to send email to her aunt (my coworker). They sell specialized stuff for people, but it's sick. the same tech for a paralyzed person is thousands of dollars. the gyration mouse on a hat (pretty much the same thing) ~ $100 or so. During that time with the gyration I did try it on a pc.

It's harder to be accurate using it than a mouse. you fingers have the table top as a base for stability.you're moving through one plane either way for looking around. It's fun, but it's the same functionality in a novel form. the controller isn't a limitation in fps games, nor did it's manner of use FEEL innovative. Simply another manner of use. The Fun and innovation needs to come IN the game. Not the control. If you're absorbed enough into a game, you barely notice the control, you barely realize you're holding a mouse. In you're mind, that's rifle, or p90 or whatever it is. Now I just use it for controlling my pc's media center from a distance.

This is a quote from the VP of Epic Games in an interview:

Quote
PCs often come with 2 gigs of RAM. How can you make a console game look as good as a PC game when [the Xbox 360 and PS3] only have 512 MB of RAM total?

The big difference is you have 'one.' There's one kind of machine for PS3, there's one kind of machine for Xbox 360. So whatever power there is, you can completely exploit it, and you can customize it for that particular CPU, that particular graphics chip, and that particular bandwidth. So you can dig very deeply into the hardware. Whereas on the PC, you wrote a game that was perfectly 100% optimized only for Nvidia, and only for dual-core, you wouldn't sell very many copies of that game. Invariably, you have to have a game that can scale a across a large range of hardware.

That answers a lot of questions with regards to consoles vs PC's. It also shows why companies like Blizzard will always be successful by optimizing for the lowest common denominator.

yeah, while I welcome the innovation of the Wii, I don't expect it to revolutionise the FPS industry.

Pointing and shooting is novel but it won't replace the mouse anytime as far as ease of use and accuracy goes.

It's like playing Duck Hunt. Hardly surpasses the Quake 3 / Half Life 2 experience now does it?

lol

Also, the PC is not a keyboard and mouse only platform. Like beo said, gyration has been around for a while and it has not found it's way in gaming not for lack of effort.

Microsoft did tilt and dat buss.

Some other people did VR headsets with gyration pucks. That buss too.

The PC can handle all manner of peripherals, so I won't count it out for that reason.

Proper FPS co-op was left out of Halo for spite and no other reason.

That is a feature that PC gamers have been clammering for but don't get enough off.

Serious Sam did it, why couldn't Doom 3 and Half Life?

Oh and for my last rant, even the old XBOX could use a keyboard and mouse. I have such an adapter and it pwns in Halo. Works much better for me than the standard xbox controller.

My $1.32
