son-of-a........nice!! i see u had to remove the side fan to get it to fit?? that sucks. looks like i wont be getting this cooler after all :(

even if the fan could fit, it makes no sense having it blow onto a single fin from the heat sink 5 mm away

i'd remove the fan and wish it all the best like Sax has

I like it, but its too damn big.  My Zalman is big enough as it is, and I'm always inside the case tweaking something.
I think that once the HSF is beyond a certain weight, the manufacturers should provide some sort of additional
brace that mounts on the case chassis somewhere, but cases so different now that I'm sure that idea was considered, then abandoned.

but guys, PCB's aren't made of glass, and have you ever heard of a HSF 'falling off'? i've been working with electronics for 12+ years, and i can tell you that you can nearly bend a PCB in half before it breaks!

No... but i've seen a Heatsink take the CPU out of the ZIF socket because of bad thermal compound.... imagine such bad coupound and a falling HSF....

Yeah, the Zalman 9700 too big.  Which is why I went with the 9500.
Not much difference in cooling performance anyways.

LOL @ W1nTry and "Holy mother of pearl"

I'll admit that I have to be quite careful working around that HSF. I put the PC on its side first if I gonna even unplug a HDD cable... and since the pics I post I put on a bigger fan still.... same 120MM size but 38mm thick instead of the usual 25mm.

I can say with confidence that it is secure in there.  Heatsink compound used is Ceramique by Arctic Silver. Ain't never gonna pull out no CPU (and I seen it myself already as well - talk about PRESSURE to separate CPU from HSF!)
God is dead.
