james cameron has found God....
« on: February 25, 2007, 01:30:00 AM »
Quote
Brace yourself. James Cameron, the man who brought you 'The Titanic' is back with another blockbuster. This time, the ship he's sinking is Christianity.

In a new documentary, Producer Cameron and his director, Simcha Jacobovici, make the starting claim that Jesus wasn't resurrected --the cornerstone of Christian faith-- and that his burial cave was discovered near Jerusalem. And, get this, Jesus sired a son with Mary Magdelene.

No, it's not a re-make of "The Da Vinci Codes'. It's supposed to be true.

Let's go back 27 years, when Israeli construction workers were gouging out the foundations for a new building in the industrial park in the Talpiyot, a Jerusalem suburb. of Jerusalem. The earth gave way, revealing a 2,000 year old cave with 10 stone caskets. Archologists were summoned, and the stone caskets carted away for examination. It took 20 years for experts to decipher the names on the ten tombs. They were: Jesua, son of Joseph, Mary, Mary, Mathew, Jofa and Judah, son of Jesua.
Israel's prominent archeologist Professor Amos Kloner didn't associate the crypt with the New Testament Jesus. His father, after all, was a humble carpenter who couldn't afford a luxury crypt for his family. And all were common Jewish names.

There was also this little inconvenience that a few miles away, in the old city of Jerusalem, Christians for centuries had been worshipping the empty tomb of Christ at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Christ's resurrection, after all, is the main foundation of the faith, proof that a boy born to a carpenter's wife in a manger is the Son of God.

other than that.. i really dunno, nah

Bloody f**king hell. Not more of this s**t, please. The gullible public is going to swallow all of this up just like they swallow thier respective religions in the first place. The fundementalists are going get their panties in a variety of boy scout knots and all this is going to do is open up a bigger bag of illogical inconsistencies than has been done before and go into overdrive mode to compensate for their own uncertainty. Every obnoxious and vocal atheist is going to recite verbatim the information from this movie without themselves fact checking because, tragically, as 'intelligent' beings we're all too happy to believe what we want to believe than what may be true. We're going to have a whole bunch of people in the general public thinking their experts from gobbling up faulty second hand information and just cluttering the intellectual channels with this crap.

...but no...it's unfair of me to pass judgement on this movie already. I should see it first...but god damn if I'm not perceptive enough to tell when it's  going to hit the fan.

*scratches head* I wonder how the islamic faith is going to react to this one... Isa, thought not divinty, is still an important figure.... exhalted in nature. Oh yes....this will be intresting to say the least.

[/end rant]

We'll see. I'm currently focused on the caveat

"Israel's prominent archeologist Professor Amos Kloner didn't associate the crypt with the New Testament Jesus.

Christ's resurrection, after all, is the main foundation of the faith, proof that a boy born to a carpenter's wife in a manger is the Son of God.]"

Whether or not he was the Christ is not the issue. It's just funny that there's no James or Jude...no John in this crypt. But a Matthew...I'm hoping theres a whole field more of researched information that James Cameron has run into that I haven't that is amount to more than just a damned crypt.

I'm a sceptic and I have no faith in my race. Sue me.

Oh, that's a given. I won't be surpised -at all- if that happens.

Btw when I was referring to islam I didn't mean they'd react violently...but they do regard jesus as a religious figure of some importance, just not divinty. So there's definitely going to be some rhetoric spawned out of it.

They found a new market to milk , Da vinci code was  the exact same plotline as Angels and Demons , which sold a couple thousand before DVC released because it was a piss poor book.. The only reason DVC sold so much is cause it got free publicity and all the would-be athiest intellectuals would want one as a symbol of their lack of faith

Thirdly......no one should shoot that dude...I mean he's messing with God.....but before i get myself into trouble all I wish to say is that he will get what's coming to him....just like the rest of us :)

All right....I'm going to close this one. Religion is always a touchy subject, and never ends well.
On top of that, this is supposed to be in Movie Towne.
