« on: February 17, 2007, 05:31:23 AM »
Well the event is over, here are the final results for both competitions:

Groovy Soca:

4th: Sherwin Winchester

2nd: Chucky
1st: Biggie Irie

Power Soca:

Now, to that Power Soca result, I have one thing to say:

I find the fella who sing "Move ya body" with the dancing school thing shoulda win.

He had the best performance and had real move the crowd imo.

Shurwayne just over talanted. Wow. true super star.

That baston woman good too but she just don't have the look. Her voice and lyrics are truly amazing though.

Iwer ain't impress me at all but he did have the crowd going wild.

Them fellas lucky KMC ain't participate. He is the king of one liner / crowd go wilder-s

Nah, man. Iwer is the king of one line hype up song, jed.

"Lemme see yuh han (times a zillion)" = ROAD MARCH
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

I beg to differ eh. It's a talent to incite a crowd the way he does so effectively. Lyrically speaking? He's a piece of s**t.

This is exactly why I'm a rock person. Too many talentless hacks with repeatedly bad one-liner lyrics permeating everything else.

As I recall, though, the Monarch competitions have always had its own brand of politics.
Remember exactly how Sugar Aloes won his last Calypso Monarch competition?

a woman should have won this year, but she got a raw deal and i sure i know why, the judges would have made nadia the winner if she had a figure like Destra one, they fighting she down cuz of she size

Nadia was in Jamaica on Friday cause carnival is kicking off here and she sounded great.... Well the judges really are sexists that is why destra never come more than 4th or so in a monarch..... when we go get a bligh as women in this country boy?
