hey laetres...what about visual effects.....who do you think is gonna win.

I want Superman Returns to win...but for some strange reason, I think the award is going to go to Pirates of the Caribbean
ah well.....the effects in that was actually spiffy as well

They real scrimp on Prestige. That picture  was mad good. Mad good. The could have given Bale something. Anything. A nomination was too much? If not for best actor they could give him surporting actor. DiCaprio had probably the worst attemp at a S. Africa accent ever and to me the picture was just sad.
the same way how they did give Dezel a thing for T.day, even though he didn't act so good, they could give Bale it because that picture deserve some recognition for being mad good.

Best Picture- i eh know how come blood diamond aint dere seein as that is the best pic i saw for the year so far...babel looked like real mess so i ant care...but it would be between the departed and the queen..tho helen mirren might win it for The Queen

Best Actor- again i eh know how Djimon Hounsou isn't dere cause he did real perfom exceptionally in Blood
Diamond...sigh...but it would be between Will Smith and Forest Whitaker tho i believe that Forest would win because even tho Smith movie was great...not many guys would support it to that extent..with the macho BS an w/e..but Forest Whitaker was a great Idi Amin tho

Best Actress- Helen Mirren (The Queen)

Best Supporting Actor-
Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond)..if this is what he has to win then so be it..if they deny him this much then its just a fight down scene cause he was real bad in Gladiator as well

Steups...i real now seeing that Apocalypto in this...again u could hope that this will do well but as usual in the movie industry lots of traditional patterns so that new concepts need to be accept and become part of the cultural norm before it can be accepted as being a great work of art...

For the other awards, i'd be supporting either Blood Diamond or Apocalypto....must say who can deny that the make up in Apocalypto wasn't prob the best ever seen

Sound Editing and Mixing- Apocalypto..that movie had u jumpin at the slighest sound of movement from dem bush men

Don't let the past hold you back, you're missing the good stuff..:P

Denzel didn't act good in Training Day? okay then.... clearly your thoughts on the oscars leave much to be desired

nah he act good in training day..  he acted MUCH better , in my opinion, in 'the hurricane' (but lost out to hanks' castaway)

that year i found suspect, cuz they gave halle a oscar for her performance as a slut ( graphic sex scene with billy bob) and him for his performance as a corrupt cop who dies..
THEN give sidney poitier a lifetime achievement award

seems a bit contrived to me.. and also,  the roles playin into stereotypes ..
but thas just my two cents.. :-)
trainin day was still a WICKED movie, poitier still a cinema great and halle still cah act

My 2 cents: I don't really take on the Academy Awards mainly because most of the movies that are nominated are the ones that I don't watch and have no interest in (artsy/heavy drama types). Once in a while a movie will come along that I really like and just happens to win a few awards but that is the exception and not the rule. Some examples are Gladiator, Lord of the Rings - Return of the King and The Usual Suspects. Anyway, good luck to the nominees especially Leo, The Departed, Monster House and Superman Returns.

Well since nobody posted on it, T&T has some recognition this year at the Oscars, with Dr. Anil Kokaram receiving his award for technical achievements within the area.

I'm not 100% positive as to what he did over the years to deserve his award, but all the same, kudos to him...

And to all those who went Hillview in the 80s and mid/late 90s, the guy is the former principal's first son, as well as a native of Grande, so big up to him for representing all of us! :D
